AECOM is seeking Structural Engineer for highways and bridges project to be based on site in Bahrain. The Structural Engineer will lead the Structural team and is responsible for managing the services scope to ensure that the site activities are executed by following the construction documents and specifications and in compliance with Ministry of Works requirements.
Reporting to the Resident Engineer (RE) or the Manager - Civil Construction the Structural Engineer -Site will lead the structural site team and is responsible for managing the structural services scope to ensure that the site activities are executed by following the construction documents and specifications.
- The Structural Engineer -Site will liaise with all relevant Authorities and the Client in regards to site-structural related requirements.
- The Structural Engineer -Site is responsible for developing strong client relationships to secure new opportunities and additional work.
- The Structural Engineer -Site will have accountability for all activities within site both in terms of the staff and the management of the Contractors Contract.
- Supervises quality assurance inspection staff and sub-consultants to verify the work is performed in compliance with the plans and specifications.
- The Structural Engineer should be able to check shop drawing bar bending schedule material approval as built drawings as per Ministry guidelines
- Monitors and assumes responsibility for the safety of AECOMs staff and Contractors.
- Coordinates and communicates with the Client Authorities and Contractors personnel.
- Processes daily project documentation and construction observations.
- Prepares issues and tracks Contractors Non-Conformance reports.
- Reviews Inspectors and Sub-consultants Daily Work Reports.
- Expedites approval permits with Authorities in case of delays.
- Contributes to Weekly Progress Meetings with the Client Contractor and other team members.
- Maintains project documents by following Company and Client requirements.
- Prepares and reviews monthly project status updates.
- Supervises and trains the Inspectors of Works are other personnel
- Checks and certifies progress payments.
- Checks personnel equipment and material costs for structural Variation Orders and Changes Orders required under the Contract terms.
- Reviews requests for additional compensation and time extensions.
- Prepares Variation Orders for Additional and New works.
- Prepares the Monthly Report.
- Monitors overall site safety by monitoring activities meetings reviews safety violations rectification measures and accident reports are included in the Monthly Progress Report.
- When necessary determines the true cost of additions or credits due to the Client and recommends appropriate action.
- Inspects safety conditions and informs the Clients of construction safety violations and follow up action to be taken.
- Manages the project team and assumes all people management responsibilities such as daily timekeeping performance management annual performance review and the development and mentoring of staff.
- Should know FIDIC based contracts or equivalent.
- Has a sound understanding of Technical Specifications.
- Performs other duties assigned by the RE or Manager.

- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Specific Skills Required
- Having relevant experience in supervising marine bridges grade separated junctions and highway works. This experience is the determining factor for this role
- Have working knowledge in supervising works as applicable
- Management experience with the ability to lead a team and communicate and interact with all other infrastructure disciplines
- Client coordination
- Reporting and communication skills
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience in civil engineering bridges projects
- Minimum of 5 years experience on marine bridges
