Nurse

American International University - Kuwait City

Reports to: Medical Doctor

Job Purpose:

The University Nurse is responsible for developing implementing and managing a University health program for a student population. Responsibilities include program management nursing services collaboration health education and professional practice.

He/she is focused on the needs of the individual student or young person and the University community as a whole as well as parents and staff.

Duties:

Creates a year-long plan for health fair dental/visual/auditory screening administration of booster shots advance of the University year.
Provides and/or delegates direct professional nursing services first aid illness and emergency care to students and staff including nursing assessment identifying health problems making referrals for diagnosis and treatment recommending educational modifications providing follow-up and evaluation and maintaining appropriate documentation
Maintains comprehensive University records
Assists with pre-University registration and interpret health requirements
Carrying out health assessment at University entry e.g. height weight vision and hearing
Participates in students centered University team meetings as appropriate
Participates as a crisis team member and provides crisis intervention for students and staff in the advent of sudden illness or injury
Acts as a resource for health education
Providing support and advice for parents carers and University staff on Studenthood illnesses and the management and control of infection and communicable diseases
Provides health information and counseling for students parents and staff
Develops a medication protocol to safely store administer document and monitor the effectiveness of medication given at the University
Maintains accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations physical examinations and medical conditions
Maintains the University clinic (equipment and supplies)
Maintains communication with administrators teachers other University personnel and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the health and safety needs of students

Maintains confidentiality regarding all University and health-related issues

Experience and Education:

Bachelors degree in Nursing with a license (RN)
At least 2 years of experiences working in Clinic or Hospitals
Preferrable with hands-on experience in First Aid and Emergency Rooms
