TITLE: Child Protection in Migration Project Coordinator (Pending Donors Approval)

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Program Operation Egypt Country OfficeLOCATION: Greater Cairo with possibility of travel to other governorates
GRADE: 5CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 year with possibility of extension based on funding and performance

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

We carry out both long-term development work and more recently emergency humanitarian work.

This project aims to lay the foundation for two critical cross-border solutionscase management and interoperable data systems. By using route-based priorities as a starting point and building on existing programming in countries it aims to strengthen systemic responses and enable governments and partners to build shared frameworks for the protection of migrant children.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This position will be responsible for working closely with the Child Protection in Migration Coordination Specialist to implement the migration project activities facilitate the consultant assignments and follow up on deliverables. Besides working closely with the Administration assistant to ensure all logistical aspects are completed on time.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: the Child Protection in Migration Coordination Specialist

Work closely with: Project Admin Assistant

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation:

Support the CP in Migration Coordination Specialist in overseeing day-to-day implementation of project activities in line with donor requirements and organizational standards.

Monitor developed work plans ensure timely delivery of outputs and achievement of project objectives.

Regularly update the CP in Migration Coordination Specialist on progress obstacles and developments; and proactively suggest improvements to plans if necessary.

Support the CP in Migration Coordination Specialist in mapping the child protection migration interventions across key agencies including services offered to migrant children and capacity building initiatives to develop a comprehensive action plan that addresses the joint program objectives.

Support the CP in Migration Coordination Specialist in following up with the hired technical consultant on deliverables.

Support SCI country office in coordinating some activities for other migration projects under SCI program.

Coordinate with the project assistance on all logistics related to the project activities including but not limited to updating progress on Prime Filling in IPTT with MEAL maintaining proper documentation and data of activities maintaining valid Means of Verification for completed indicators and documentation of activities.

Conduct regular field visits to targeted and non-targeted governorates and support data collection efforts in collaboration with the CP TA other Technical Advisors Operations and MEAL teams.

Conduct risk assessments when necessary for the project related activities.

Ensure that the activities are implemented in a full respect to the child safeguarding polices of SC.

Assists in carrying out any other necessary tasks in supporting the case management team.

SupportSCIcountry office in coordinating some activities for other migration projects underSCIprogram.

Conduct visits to other governoratesfor supportingtheset upof other migration projects and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders and data collection needed for these projects.

Reporting and Documentation:

Accountable for ensuring proper data gathering and data accuracy ensuring that the project database is regularly up to date.

Accountable for compiling concise quantitative and qualitative reports on a monthly and quarterly basis

In case of Emergency:

Promote childrens rights contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies guided by humanitarian principles and code of conduct.

During emergencies he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCIs response to emergencies giving priority to all assigned.

Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibility.

General:

Demonstrate leadership in relation to Save the Children policies and practice with respect to safeguarding code of conduct health and safety equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Embed counter-fraud and ethical controls in all operational processes ensuring compliance with donor and legal requirements while collaborating with Finance and Counter-Fraud teams to mitigate risks and conduct assessments for high-value programs;

Ensure adherence to the Do No Harm principle across all coordination planning implementation activities; and

Complete all mandatory training on the specified timeframe.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in migration sociology development political science related studies or relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

2-3 years of previous relevant experience in working in Child Protection in migration context isnecessary

Good understanding of national child protection systems and referral mechanisms in Egypt

Excellent drafting interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in Arabic and English written and spoken is a must.

Demonstrated ability to work with government representatives

Awareness about the security context and political situation in Egypt for children on the move.

Able to work effectively within a team and/or individually.

Candidate must be willing to work in the field effectively.

Well organised with strong time-management skills.

Ability to work under pressure.

Shares Save the Childrens vision and values.

Desirable

Previous experience working with NGOs and in a migration-related context.

Experience with child protection capacity building of national partners is preferable
