About the role:
Were looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer II to lead multiquarter initiatives that shape how Forters Decision Engine is designed developed and operated with impact that clearly goes beyond a single team. Youll combine handson backend work with technical leadership simplifying complex systems improving developer experience and raising reliability at scale for multiple engine teams.

TheEngine Dynamics team owns the insighttoproduction experience for Forters Decision Engine. We treat the engine development process as a product: reducing complexity improving confidence lowering production faults and easing the mental load on all engine development teams.

What youll be doing:
- Lead multiquarter teamscoped projects that change how we build validate and ship engine changes from problem definition to rollout.
- Remodel key parts of the Decision Engine and its tooling to reduce toil simplify workflows and make complex changes safer and faster to deploy.
- Own critical engine platform components (validation fault detection developer tools) used by multiple engine teams.
- Turn ambiguous enginelevel problems into clear plans breaking them into milestones aligning stakeholders and driving execution.
- Mentor engineers in and around the team raising the bar via design reviews pairing and clear technical guidance.
What youll need:
- 7 years of experience building backend systems in largescale missioncritical environments acting as a technical lead for substantial projects.
- Strong skills in one or more of Python / Java / Kotlin / Rust / Go and solid understanding of modern backend architectures.
- Deep familiarity with cloudnative environments (AWS / GCP / Azure Kubernetes Docker) and productiongrade observability and deployment practices.
- Proven track record of leading multiquarter teamscoped projects endtoend including collaboration with product/analytics/other engineering teams.
- Demonstrated subjectmatter expertise in at least one relevant domain (e.g. distributed backends developer productivity tooling CI/CD runtime reliability data/stream processing) and comfort working in highambiguity areas.
Itd be cool if you also have:
- Experience materially improving team productivity via CI/CD build systems or internal developer platforms.
- Experience with monorepo build systems (Bazel Pants Buck) or complex multiservice deployments.
- Experience defining and driving engineering standards adopted beyond a single team.
