ES Art Assistant (Maternity Coverage - May 2026)

Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 1958 The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS) is a MSA accredited fully independent co-educational Pre-K - 12 international school which offers a robust program leading to a US high school diploma.
With a present enrollment of approximately 450 students representing over 40 nationalities WBAIS Israel is a diverse and vibrant community. Approximately 30% of WBAIS students are American 40% from countries all over the world and 30% Israeli.
In 2008 WBAIS moved to its current 19-acre campus that opened in 2007 and is located in the town of Even Yehuda a residential community approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. The purpose-built campus includes four separate divisions a performing arts building with a 400-seat auditorium full gym cafeteria library and media center athletic fields tennis and basketball courts and an olympic-sized pool.
Position Objectives
The WBAIS ES Art Teacher Assistant will work with the art teachers and students from EY-G12 as assigned by the ES principal (based on the needs of the students and program.)
The art assistant will be assigned a schedule from the ES principal in coordination with the art department and teachers. Some of the roles and responsibilities are described below but this can change as the needs of the program and students change and will be communicated in planning meetings or written communications. The art assistant will also be responsible for supporting the playground duties of the elementary school as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist children kindergarten through 4th grade in art classes
- Maintain the art room art supplies Kiln room organize the storeroom as well as assist in ordering/putting away materials
- Assist in preparing the class and supplies for the day
- Help set up/take down art shows exhibitions and displays
- Help with the photocopying framing and organizing materials
- Take photos of artwork and post to the school website as requested
- Work with the Seesaw and Google Classroom platforms to support students virtually as needed
- Follow-up with maintenance requests and the set-up of art displays
- Assist in finding and or communicating with suppliers and acquiring supplies when necessary
Qualifications
- Proven track record as a positive and warm colleague
- Strong collaborator with exceptional communication skills
- Some type of experience in the fine arts including studio classes and art history preferred
- Computer experience in digital media preferred
- Strong communication skills in English
- Strong Hebrew skills preferred
- Valid work permit
- Green pass or vaccination certificate
Preferred:
- Fine Arts including studio classes and art history
- Computer experience in digital media and Seesaw
- Educational/teaching experience
Position Expectations

- Work effectively with a varied student population (EAL students students with learning challenges late-entering students and gifted and talented students)
- Assist in preparation for classes for the day
- Assist students in classes as assigned
- Organize and label the storeroom and kiln room
- Help set up/take down art shows exhibitions and displays
- Take photos of artwork and post as requested
- Help with photocopying
- Use the Seesaw application to set up work or give student feedback
- Follow-up with maintenance forms and requests
- Assist in ordering/putting away materials
