The Estimator & Cost Control Engineer supports the preparation of accurate cost estimates Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and financial controls across all project phases. This role owns the estimation and cost control process with a strong emphasis on quantity extraction from BIM models and precise BOQ and bid-form development.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Review and analyze project plans drawings specifications and scope documents to develop a clear understanding of project requirements.
Perform quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) across multiple disciplines (architectural structural MEP finishes siteworks).
Support the preparation of bid-forms and bid packages ensuring scope clarity and alignment with project objectives.
Review tender documents and ensure all required information is provided to pre-approved suppliers.
Conduct bid evaluation and leveling comparing subcontractor/vendor quotations for scope compliance cost competitiveness and risk exposure.
Lead value engineering exercises identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising design intent or quality.
Liaise with suppliers subcontractors and project teams to gather pricing technical clarifications and market intelligence.
Develop detailed cost breakdowns by trade/division providing key inputs for commercial decision-making and negotiations.
Support post-construction cost control and financial management activities including subcontract and PO administration change order control job costing and budget tracking.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
Collaborate with preconstruction and design teams and post-construction to align financial performance with project delivery.
Bachelor s degree in Architectural Engineering Quantity Surveying or related field.
Proven experience in BOQ preparation is essential.
Proficiency in extracting data and quantities from BIM models.
Strong numerical and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
Solid understanding of cost estimation financial tracking and construction project workflows.
Proficiency in extracting data and quantities from BIM models.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with take-off and estimating tools (e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud Bluebeam PlanSwift CostX) is a plus.
Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat or equivalent coding systems for trade breakdowns and scope standardization.
Prior experience in budgeting job costing cash flow forecasting and financial reporting.
