The Role
The HV Technician is a hands-on technical expert responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and installing high-voltage equipment across our terminals and associated facilities. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted power supply and operational efficiency in a fast-paced safety-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HV equipment to maximize reliability
• Respond promptly to breakdowns or faults restoring power safely and efficiently
• Collaborate with engineers grid operators and technical teams during upgrades shutdowns and troubleshooting
• Diagnose and repair faults in HV systems replacing defective components as needed
• Conduct electrical testing and commissioning ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards
• Install HV equipment including transformers switchgear circuit breakers and protection systems
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities test results and incidents
• Implement strict safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures

Essential Experience

• 35 years working with high-voltage systems and related equipment
• Strong understanding of HV electrical principles circuit theory transformers relays and switchgear
• Skilled in using HV testing tools (insulation resistance testers HV testers multimeters clamp meters)
• Deep knowledge of electrical safety standards and PPE requirements

Education & Certifications

• Diploma or degree (BAC 2) in Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering or related field
• Certification in HV systems (e.g. HV Switching Operations OSHA or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with utility-scale power distribution systems
• Familiarity with SCADA systems or substation automation
• Knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards

Skills & Attributes

• Physically fit for work in confined spaces heights and demanding environments
• High attention to detail and safety awareness
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in diverse teams

Working Conditions

• Location: Ports substations industrial facilities or infrastructure projects
• Hours: Full-time with potential shift work weekends and emergency call-outs
• Environment: High-risk electrical settings and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
