The Project Manager is responsible for planning executing and overseeing engineering construction renovation and infrastructure projects within the medical college. The role ensures that all projects meet quality safety regulatory and operational standards required for academic clinical and research environments. The Project Manager coordinates with engineers contractors faculty and administrative teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
Develop project scopes schedules work plans and resource requirements.
Prepare feasibility studies cost estimates and risk assessments.
Lead the planning design and execution of construction and engineering projects.
Ensure projects comply with medical academic and regulatory requirements.
2. Coordination & Collaboration
Act as the main liaison between contractors architects engineers and internal departments.
Conduct regular coordination and progress meetings.
Manage communication between engineering academic departments biomedical engineering and facilities teams.
Review and approve technical drawings designs and change requests.
3. Compliance Safety & Quality Control
Ensure all engineering projects meet safety codes and accreditation standards.
Oversee inspections testing and certification of completed work.
Ensure adherence to fire safety rules lab safety regulations and medical facility requirements (HVAC medical gas etc.).
4. Financial & Contract Management
Monitor project budgets and control expenditures.
Prepare and review RFPs quotations tenders and procurement documents.
Verify contractor invoices progress payments and change orders.
Ensure compliance with institutional purchasing policies.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed project documentation including schedules logs and progress reports.
Provide regular updates to senior management faculty and stakeholders.
Prepare post-project evaluation reports and handover documentation.
6. Facility & Infrastructure Support (as needed)
Assist with planning and upgrading lab facilities classrooms simulation centers and research spaces.
Support maintenance scheduling and troubleshooting for engineering systems.
Coordinate installation of laboratory and medical equipment with technical teams.
Requirements
Education
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil Mechanical Electrical or related field).
Project Management Certification (PMP / PRINCE2) preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare or laboratory facility standards is an advantage.
Experience
Skills
Strong project planning and organizational skills.
Proficiency in AutoCAD MS Project or similar tools.
Excellent communication negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Understanding of safety codes HVAC lab utilities and medical facility systems.
