Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for a Advocacy & Communications Officer MENAEEto join our global team.

Team and Job Purpose

The Programme Delivery department drives the implementation of our strategy by ensuring that programme and advocacy delivery is done right first time at scale with impact and quality on time on budget and with compliance. We aim to strengthen and enable implementing offices ability to work in complex and hostile environments be more locally-led smarter in its sourcing and with a smaller environmental footprint. The department leads comprehensively on the organisations humanitarian and crisis response strategy including prioritisation programme quality operational delivery and interagency collaboration and influencing.

Role purpose

The Advocacy & Communications Officer reports to the Manager (Regional Affairs and Coordination MENAEE) providing communications and coordination support to enable the Regional Director (RD) in their internal and external engagements. The role contributes to the drafting and implementation of communication products and advocacy materials ensuring alignment with organisational values and objectives. Working under the guidance of the Manager the Officer collaborates with regional communications and advocacy colleagues as well as global teams to help maintain consistent messaging across regions. This role also supports the effective coordination of the RD Office including meeting preparation documentation and information management while promoting equity inclusion and cultural competence.

International Travel Requirements: up to 5%

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support the development of communications products that strengthen Save the Childrens internal and external visibility across the MENAEE region (e.g. newsletter highlights regional impact reports and the regional website)
  • Draft communication content for the RD including weekly suggested social media posts to enhance SCIs visibility and advocacy reach through RD channels
  • Support in preparing tailored communication materials such as talking points presentations and briefing documents to effectively represent the RD in external meetings and forums
  • Liaise with Country Offices to support the planning and preparations of the RD visits including content development from visits briefings for meetings/external engagements
  • Update and manage the external contacts list including INGOs diplomatic missions and UN agencies
  • Contribute to the preparation and planning of the RD meetings including the Regional Leadership forum BP weekly meetings and other coordination mechanisms
  • Provide minutes and track actions from coordination meetings and forums ensuring follow-up on documentation of ongoing work
  • Maintain and regularly update RD Office governance documents and processes including the RD Office Playbook CD reportingcompilation and action trackers
  • Organise and maintain resources on SharePoint for information and knowledge management
  • Support the Manager as well as the RD in daily tasks and coordination
  • Collaborate with Communications Advocacy and New Business Development business colleagues and others as required
  • Work closely with the MENAEE Communication Lead on regional strategic communication projects and deliverables.

Experience and Skills

Essential

Experience:

  1. Experience supporting the development and implementation of communication materials or activities that align with organisational values and objectives
  2. Experience in internal and external communications involving engagement with various stakeholders including senior management partners and Members to support organisational goals.
  3. Experience working with global teams: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across regions and cultures promoting coordinated communications globally.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Experience in monitoring the impact and reach of communication efforts and outputs and collecting feedback to improve content and engagement using this data to inform continuous improvement.
  5. Familiarity with digital communications tools or platforms (e.g. Adobe suite Canva Mailchimp or content management systems) for creating editing or publishing communications materials

Skills:

  1. Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills in English and Arabic : The ability to craft clear compelling and impactful messages tailored to diverse audiences is critical.
  2. Organisation and attention to detail: Capable of managing multiple priorities tracking tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment Adaptability and Flexibility: Being responsive and adaptable to the changing needs and priorities of the organisation and the external environment. Analytical Skills: Capability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications and suggest improvements based on data and feedback.
  3. Teamwork and coordination: works well as part of a team contributing to shared goals and supporting smooth coordination within the RD office and across functions
  4. Skills in digital communication and design tools to prepare or update simple visual and online content such as newsletters reports and the regional website

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Communications Public Relations Journalism Marketing or a related field or equivalent experience - this supports the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge for the role
  • Professional certifications in communications marketing public relations or similar
  • Training in diversity equity and inclusion (DEI): Ensuring the role holder is equipped to uphold and promote diverse equitable and inclusive communication practices as outlined by SCIs policies.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications or specialised certifications in communications or a related field
  • Interest in developing creative digital content and visual storytelling to enhance regional communications outputs
