Backend Engineer (AWS Serverless)

Job summary:

Mazeed is a UAE-based financial management platform offering a hybrid model of SaaS Finance-as-a-Service (FaaS) to support SMEs with smart accounting taxation and CFO advisory tools. Were building a modern scalable and automation-first product experience powered by both software and expert services. We are growing our engineering team to support the delivery and scale of our new SaaS platform. 

Why This Role Matters 

As a Backend Engineer youll be responsible for building and maintaining core backend services using AWS Serverless technologies. Youll work on critical systems such as authentication onboarding billing and internal tools all designed to enable fast reliable and scalable operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in an agile team and has a strong foundation in building cloud-native serverless backends. 

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement backend services using AWS Lambda API Gateway DynamoDB SQS EventBridge and Step Functions 

• Build APIs and backend workflows for core modules like subscription management user lifecycle and internal automation 

• Write clean scalable testable and well-documented code 

• Optimize for performance cost-efficiency and reliability in a serverless environment 

• Collaborate with frontend engineers product managers and QA to ship high-quality features 

• Implement observability (CloudWatch X-Ray etc.) and ensure robust logging and error handling 

• Contribute to architectural decisions and improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC with CDK or Terraform) 

Qualifications :

• 5 years of experience in backend development with at least 1 year building serverless apps on AWS 

• Strong proficiency in or Python 

• Hands-on experience with core AWS services: Lambda API Gateway DynamoDB S3 SQS EventBridge 

• Understanding of event-driven architectures and asynchronous workflows 

• Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS models is a plus 

• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. AWS CDK Terraform or Serverless Framework) 

• Bonus: Experience integrating with ERP or financial systems (e.g. ERPNext Odoo

• Scalable reliable and cost-efficient backend services power key product experiences 

• Internal and customer-facing workflows are automated and observable 

• Feature delivery is fast and maintainable with minimal post-release issues 

• Engineering best practices are upheld in architecture testing and deployment 

• The backend can scale seamlessly to support 5000 customers
