The Fiber Optic Technician is responsible for the installation maintenance troubleshooting and repair of fiber optic
systems. This includes ensuring the integrity and efficiency of fiber optic connections for optimal network
performance. The technician must possess technical expertise strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
to support reliable connectivity
Accountabilities:
Install terminate and splice fiber optic cables for efficient and reliable connections.
Perform testing and diagnostics on fiber optic networks to ensure signal quality and connectivity.
Address and resolve issues related to signal loss breaks and other network problems.
Conduct regular maintenance checks to prevent connectivity issues document repairs and maintain a
record of technical issues and resolutions.
Collaborate with team members to implement system upgrades capacity expansion and optimization
efforts.
Maintain updated records of fiber optic network configurations maintenance schedules and
troubleshooting logs for effective management and decision-making.
Work with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of fiber optic materials and replacement parts as
needed
Requirements
Education experience training and skills required:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years in fiber optic installation splicing and troubleshooting.
Proficiency with fiber optic systems including splicing and testing equipment and a solid understanding of
network infrastructure.
Strong troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for providing technical guidance and collaborating with team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
