Wound care nursing is the identification assessment implementation management and evaluation of individuals with select disorders of the integumentary system such as acute/chronic wounds pressure necrosis vascular ulcers diabetic ulcers fistulae and those with percuntaneous drains or tubes. Nursing role examines health care problems from a holistic perspective including identification and management of causative factors and complications. Wound care nursing practice includes prevention risk assessment appropriate and cost effective treatment modalities and the recognition and or management of secondary complication such as periwound skin breakdown infectionEXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of 2 years in wound care REQUIREDSKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: To perform this job successfully within the scope of nursing an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to demonstrate any knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned department. EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree from an accredited Nursing school is required (for board certification in wounds) LICENSES CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Position requires a Valid/Current license to practice as a RN in Massachusetts. Board certification in wounds requiredor CWOCN certificationpreferred.
