Machine Shop HOD

Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise machine shop staff
• Develop and implement manufacturing processes and best practices
• Oversee production schedules and resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
• Optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime
• Manage inventory and procurement of raw materials and tools
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams for product development
• Resolve production issues and implement corrective actions
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff
• Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance productivity
• Monitor and control production costs to meet budget requirements
• Maintain equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop
• Participate in strategic planning and goal setting for the department
• Report on key performance indicators and production metrics

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing or related field
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a machine shop environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of CNC machining tooling and fabrication processes
• Strong understanding of quality control and inspection techniques
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement tools
• Proficiency in production planning and resource management
• Excellent problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of machinists and technicians
• Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
• Experience in implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes
• Proficient in using CAD/CAM software and other manufacturing technology
• Certification in Six Sigma or similar quality management programs
• Proven track record of driving operational excellence and cost savings
• Ability to work in a fastpaced dynamic manufacturing environment
