Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor:
o Must be well equipped to estimate quantities and costs during the early stages of a construction project
when detailed designs and specifications are not yet available. Must possess the capability to offer contingency
planning in quantity surveying based on thumb rules.
o Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on drawings specifications and other
project documents.
o Evaluate bids and proposals from contractors and suppliers recommending selection based on cost
quality and compliance with project requirements.
o Utilize cost estimation techniques historical data and industry benchmarks to forecast costs for labor
materials equipment and other project expenses.
o Identify costsaving opportunities and value engineering solutions to optimize project finances without
compromising quality or performance.
o Create and oversee project budgets monitoring expenses and predicting costs to uphold adherence to
budget limits throughout the project duration.
o Should be familiar with relevant Indian Standard (IS) codes that pertain to construction materials
methods and quality standards.
o Should possess the necessary skills to systematically review and analyze specifications in order to determine
the BOQ and its specifications required for a project.
o Perform quantity takeoffs and measurements from drawings and specifications to determine the quantities
of materials and labor required for construction activities.
o Verify and certify progress payments and interim valuations based on actual work completed.
o Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may affect project costs schedules and outcomes
developing risk mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
o Establish and maintain effective communication with clients providing regular updates on project costs
progress and financial performance.
o Address client queries concerns and requests related to project finances and contractual matters
