Summer Internship - Quantum Engineering

Summary:

The individual in this exciting internship role will be mentored by a team of physicists and engineers to develop optical systems or modules for our neutralatom quantum computers.

Responsibilities:

• Develop test and manufactureoptical systems that include freespace fiberoptic components and lasers.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in a Masters or PhD program with at least three (3) years of academic experience.
• Handson experience in optics lab; including knowledge of laser operations and aligning laser beams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain and present basic physical concepts design decisions and experimental results.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Familiarity with quantum computing is not necessary for this position but candidates should display a deep interest in quantum technologies and be selfmotivated and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Development and test experience of optical and laser systems using simulation tools (i.e. Zemax).
• CAD design experience using Autodesk inventor SolidWorks AutoCAD etc.
• Knowledge of lab automation and programming language (Python) for data collection and analysis.
• Demonstrated accomplishment of innovation (i.e. through journal publications patents or product development cycles).
