- $700 Daily Plus Super / $773.5 per day including Super
- Daily Rate Contract
Our client is a large NSW Government organisation who are seeking Legal Officer to join their team.
The primary purpose of the role is to undertake research and develop policy on issues of a legal, legislative or administrative nature, undertake and report on projects, and provide high-level support to the Chief Magistrate and the Deputy Chief Magistrates.

Key Responsibilities:
- Promote the interests of the Local Court.
- Develop and document new court procedures in line with legislative reforms.
- Undertake work involving legal and social research to develop proposals for legislative or policy reform to issues of judicial, government or community concern.
- Respond to requests for consultation, in coordination with the Deputy Chief Magistrates and Chief Magistrate on behalf of the Local Court.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with representatives from State and Commonwealth governments, and other key stakeholders (including the Legal Profession and Members of the Judiciary) when undertaking negotiations and consultations on matters of common concern.
Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Law and admitted (or eligible to be admitted) to the legal profession under the Legal Profession Act 2004 or a corresponding law.
- Ability to develop policy in a legal environment; and
- Ability to quickly develop a thorough understanding of the legislation and legal principles that govern the procedures of the Local Court
- Ability to prepare advice on legal, legislative and administrative matters
