Job Description Projects Accounting Manager


Objective:

Projects Accounting Manager manages a team of projects accountants that perform accounting and financial activities to measure and monitor projects financial performance. Oversees implementing and enforcing policies and procedures for the company s billing and revenue cycle to maximize cash flow and the creation and maintenance of projects level accounts.

Ensures that all postings, allocations, accruals, and payments for the projects are completed, covering day-to-day operations issues related to projects life cycle from project set up through project close out process. Additionally, the projects accounting manager will evaluate projects performance and provide analysis to projects managers, finance department, and higher management, addressing changes in project scope or timeline and resolve any financial issues that might impede project performance. Tracks and analyzes consolidated financial results for all projects. This position requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the projects accounting team.


Direct Manager:

Projects Accounting Manager will be reporting to Finance Director.


Subordinate:

Projects accounting team (Project Accountants).


Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervise projects accounting team and provide guidance for day-to-day operations

o Review the setup of new projects and modifications

o Provide quality control review of invoices for adherence to client requirements

o Resolve complex billing issues

o Create project accounts in the accounting system

o Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders

o Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project

o Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project

o Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project

o Review account totals related to project assets and expenses

o Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management

o Confer with receivables staff regarding unpaid contract billings

o Report on project profitability to management

o Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings

o Report to management regarding the remaining funding available for projects

o Create or approve all project-related billings to customers

o Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers


o Close out project accounts upon project completion

o Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects

o Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required

Provide collections support to finance and projects managers

Assist with month end close process by reviewing projects reporting to ensure projects financials are correctly stated

Provide projects reporting and analysis on key projects metrics

Assist in the development of projects accounting policies and procedures

Provide oversight of projects accounting activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines

Support the development of annual budgets

Coordinate with senior finance staff to enhance opportunities for projects accounting team professional development

Provide training to projects accounting team and projects managers as needed

Assist with extending electronic invoicing and routing system to entire company

Participate in the development and implementation of changes to key processing systems

Provide support as needed for annual audits and tax filings

Other duties as assigned




Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including IFRS
