Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Location: Baghdad Iraq
Languages: Fluent Arabic (mandatory) English (preferred)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Role Summary

The COO will be responsible for overseeing the companys day-to-day operational and commercial activities ensuring seamless integration between sales distribution logistics and customer service. This role requires a strategic leader with deep experience in both commercial management and operations ideally within the printing technology or industrial equipment sectors. The COO will drive business growth operational efficiency and team performance while ensuring compliance with local regulations and alignment with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Oversee all operational functions including supply chain warehousing logistics order fulfillment and after-sales service.
• Develop and implement operational policies procedures and best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with local laws industry standards and company policies.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all operational areas.

Commercial Management

• Drive commercial strategy to achieve revenue targets market share growth and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee sales operations including wholesale distribution channels pricing strategies and key account management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers partners and clients.
• Identify new business opportunities and lead market expansion initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

• Manage mentor and develop cross-functional teams (sales operations logistics customer service).
• Foster a culture of accountability collaboration and excellence.
• Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular reviews.

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to define and execute long-term business strategies.
• Analyse market trends competitor activities and customer needs to inform decision-making.
• Lead major projects and initiatives including process automation and digital transformation.

Financial Management

• Develop and manage operational budgets forecasts and cost controls.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for the executive team.
• Optimise resource allocation to maximise profitability and growth.

Customer Experience

• Ensure exceptional customer service across all touchpoints.
• Address escalated customer issues and implement solutions for long-term satisfaction.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration Engineering Operations Management or related field (Masters preferred).
• Minimum 10 years experience in commercial and operational leadership roles ideally in wholesale distribution printing machinery or industrial equipment sectors.
• Proven track record in managing large teams and complex operations.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience in sales management business development and negotiations.
• Deep understanding of supply chain logistics and inventory management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Arabic (mandatory) and English (preferred).
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Experience working in Iraq or the Middle East is highly desirable.
