Job Summary

An Ophthalmic Surgeon specializes in diagnosing treating and performing surgical procedures on the eyes to address vision impairments eye diseases and trauma. This role involves conducting complex eye surgeries utilizing advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies and working closely with optometrists ophthalmologists nurses and medical staff to ensure highquality patient care. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in cataract retinal corneal refractive and glaucoma surgeries along with strong patient management and clinical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced ophthalmic surgeries including:
• Cataract Surgery (Phacoemulsification Extracapsular Cataract Extraction ECCE)
• Refractive Surgeries (LASIK PRK SMILE)
• Glaucoma Procedures (Trabeculectomy Tube Shunt Placement MIGS)
• Retinal Surgeries (Vitrectomy Retinal Detachment Repair Macular Hole Surgery)
• Corneal Transplants (Penetrating & Lamellar Keratoplasty)
• Oculoplastic & Orbital Surgeries (Eyelid Reconstruction Tear Duct Repair Blepharoplasty)
• Conduct preoperative assessments postoperative care and longterm patient followups to monitor recovery and manage complications.
• Utilize diagnostic imaging tools including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Fundus Photography Fluorescein Angiography and Visual Field Testing for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Diagnose and manage complex eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy macular degeneration retinal detachments and corneal diseases.
• Prescribe medications corrective lenses and nonsurgical treatments when necessary.
• Educate patients about their eye conditions surgical risks and posttreatment care to enhance their understanding and recovery.
• Work collaboratively with optometrists medical teams and support staff to ensure integrated highquality ophthalmic care.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in ophthalmic surgery laser technology and roboticassisted procedures to ensure the best patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical research case studies and professional development activities to contribute to ophthalmic advancements.
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols health regulations and safety guidelines including radiation safety and infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate patient records surgical documentation and treatment logs as per medical and legal requirements.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Education & Certifications:

• Medical Degree (MBBS MD or equivalent).
• Board Certification / Fellowship in Ophthalmology.
• Specialized Training in Ophthalmic Surgery (e.g. FRCS ICO FICO or equivalent).
• Valid Medical License (DHA/MOH/HAAD in the UAE or equivalent).

Technical & Surgical Skills:

• Expertise in microsurgical techniques and ophthalmic laser technology.
• Proficiency in anterior and posterior segment surgeries.
• Experience with corneal retinal and glaucoma surgeries.
• Strong diagnostic skills using advanced ophthalmic imaging tools.

Experience:

• 5 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Surgeon in a hospital eye clinic or specialized medical center.
• Experience handling highvolume surgical cases in a fastpaced environment.
• Prior exposure to international ophthalmic practices is a plus.
