What Youll Do
As a Cytotechnologist youll play a critical role in detecting and identifying cellular abnormalities with accuracy and efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for malignant and abnormal conditions
Review liquid-based cytology specimens (manual and imaged) as well as conventional slides
Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures and workload standards
Maintain accurate workload documentation and compliance with CLIA regulations and laboratory policies
Ensure the integrity accuracy and timely reporting of test results
Meet established slide screening productivity and quality requirements
Enter finalized results into the laboratory information system accurately and efficiently
Support cytology processing and additional laboratory functions as needed
Follow all HIPAA infection control and laboratory safety protocols
What Were Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Biological Science or related field
ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification
Ability to pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency testing
Strong understanding of cytology preparation techniques
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Successful completion of a standardized color vision screen
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Cytology laboratory experience
ThinPrep certification
Experience with automated and non-automated testing platforms
Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
