As a Mechanical Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the design development and delivery of experimental facilities and engineering capabilities within UKAEAs Materials Division.
You will contribute to multidisciplinary engineering and technical projects that enable the testing and analysis of materials for both fission and fusion research helping to develop and maintain the equipment and infrastructure that underpin UKAEAs experimental programmes. Working collaboratively with engineers scientists and external partners you will support the delivery of high-quality safe and effective engineering solutions that enable cutting-edge research.
This role offers the opportunity to build your mechanical engineering expertise while working in a highly collaborative environment contributing to innovative projects with universities industry partners and international research organisations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide solutions to defined problems using clear guidance established references and engineering standards.
Support the design and development of simple systems using initiative and sound engineering judgement.
Communicate effectively with colleagues to gather information share ideas and support project delivery.
Contribute to both short- and long-term engineering projects including technical documentation and reporting.
Support installation testing and commissioning activities including pressure systems.
Produce and maintain CAD models to support design and engineering work.
Ensure all work is subject to peer review by supervisors or senior engineers to maintain quality and compliance.
Qualifications :
Essential Requirements:
Engineering degree HNC/HND or equivalent relevant experience.
