Job Summary


Manage a designated group of Learning Support Assistants planning and timetabling class and one to one support for students in line with EHCP and support requirements in order to support students identified with having additional needs working cohesively with other support partners to ensure EHCP and support arrangements are met. Working effectively and confidently one to one or with small groups of young people to promote their social development through activities clubs and events in social areas promoting opportunities for social interaction and the development of good communication and encouraging participation in small group activities.

This role is 18 hours per week term time only. Salary will be pro rated accordingly.


Main Responsibilities and Duties:


1. Meet individual students to identify support requirements and produce appropriate support plans reviewing student support 3 times a year and update plans to promote independent working monitor a caseload of students to ensure appropriate support is in place including Exam Access Arrangements.
2. Lead a group of LSAs to provide support for students within a named department undertaking the planning of timetabling to ensure effective deployment of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in line with current resource levels prioritising needs providing induction support for new LSAs and complete both drop in observations for LSAs within the curriculum areas and probation reviews and staff appraisals.
3. Support students identified with Learning difficulties or disabilities in small groups 1:1 or in the classroom setting SMART targets monitoring and reviewing student progress and destinations liaising with relevant staff regarding any changes in support. This will include the preparation of appropriate resources to aid teaching of students with disabilities/ difficulties/ Literacy/ Numeracy/ Language.
4. Collate information and attend EHCP Annual Reviews working with the SEMH/ Transition Officer and SEN Practitioner to Identify implement and monitor transition arrangements.
5. Liaise with Study Programme Coordinators Heads of Departments and Personal Progression Tutors regarding planning of support ensuring schemes of work and lesson planning is available to implement effective support.
6. Supervise and monitor students in the learning environment and social areas as necessary working effectively and confidently on a one to one with specific young people in a mentoring capacity promoting the social development of specific young people through activities and events plan effective programmes of activities to encourage specific young people to engage promoting opportunities for social interaction and the development of good communication and ensuring that students respect the environment and promote positive behaviour of young people. This will include signposting students to relevant support services as required.
7. Complete day-to-day administration to meet department needs and attend staff development activities department and Learning Support meetings.
