The Team
The Tree Seed Centre Cone and Seed Processing Team is a small collaborative group of about eight people who work together in a fast-paced hands-on environment to produce high-quality seed for reforestation across B.C. Team members support one another and value each persons contribution with a mix of experienced and returning staff who help create a respectful inclusive workplace where everyone can learn and succeed. This work is physically active and time-sensitive and each role is connectedtogether the team plays an important part in protecting forests and supporting communities across the province.

The Role
As a Tree Seed Centre Labourer you will play an important role in safely processing tree cones and seeds carefully following steps to maintain quality accuracy and traceability throughout the process. Working with a supportive team you will operate equipment record information and help ensure seeds are ready in time for reforestation across B.C. making a meaningful contribution to communities and the environment. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Prefer manual labour or outdoor working experience; especially working with plants i.e. tree planter gardener landscaper orchard worker cone picker forestry worker or equivalent training and experience.
  • Prefer one year of experience in a high-volume production environment involving a perishable product or a combination of education and experience such as one year of related experience and relevant job training courses.
  • Prefer experience in horticulture agriculture or forestry.
  • Valid BC drivers licence is preferred.
  • Valid Lift Truck Certification is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities assignments and corporate structure.
  • Work around machinery moving equipment (e.g. forklifts conveyor belts etc.) and operate mechanical resources in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Do frequent walking and standing.
  • Work in a high-production environment where many critical concurrent activities must be carried out.
  • Work with a fragile and perishable product (cones and seed).

**This role involves physically demanding work and involves work with industrial equipment. As part of the recruitment process candidates are required to attend an on-site interview which includes a physical assessment to ensure job readiness.

Five (5) Positions available.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31 2027. This position may be extended.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
