This is a hands-on technical design position working alongside developers and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to assess create and approve electricity network connection designs. Youll oversee the full design lifecycle from initial project award through to network adoption across a varied portfolio of HV and EHV projects within the electricity distribution sector.
What youll be doing
Reviewing and approving electricity network connection designs submitted by developers and ICPs including self-determination of Point of Connection (PoC) in compliance with NERS accreditation
Creating and developing network connection designs to company standards and all relevant regulatory requirements
Supporting the stage and gate process including customer communications delivery timelines risk identification environmental reviews and client kick-off meetings
Building and maintaining strong relationships with DNO planning and design teams to ensure effective technical and policy dialogue
Liaising with land rights coordinators ICPs developers and DNOs to secure appropriate land rights for adoptable assets
Reviewing and approving as-built submissions and supporting the build assurance team where design changes occur during asset energisation
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislation applicable to the design adoption ownership and operation of HV and LV electricity distribution networks
What were looking for
Essential:
2 years of electrical distribution engineering experience
Proven experience in HV and LV network design
Ability to objectively review and approve designs produced by external parties
Sound knowledge of regulatory and legislative compliance including health safety and environment
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach
Degree HNC/D or equivalent engineering qualification (preferred)
Desirable:
Experience in Extra High Voltage (EHV) network design
