Lead Backend Engineer

Hevy is looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to join our growing this role youll take on technical leadership helping to architect develop and scale our backend. Youll tackle our most complex engineering challenges improve system performance and collaborate closely with product managers to shape the future of Hevy.

Were a small fast-moving team supporting millions of users so your work will have a massive impact on both our product and our users. On average Hevys backend is saving between 10 and 20 workouts per second. Youll lead the evolution of a high-throughput backend handling millions of workouts every week solving challenges around scalability reliability realtime synchronization data modeling and performance optimization.

What Youll Do:

• Lead and contribute to the development of our backend
• Build scalable solutions improving system performance and reliability
• Mentor and support other engineers fostering a culture of growth and technical excellence
• Own projects end-to-end from technical planning to execution
• Work cross-functionally with product managers designers and other engineers to deliver new features and refine existing ones

What Were Looking For:

• 5 years of experience building backends
• Deep understanding of backend infrastructure and relational databases
• Tech Leadership experience
• Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of solving technical challenges at scale
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Bonus: A passion for weightlifting calisthenics or fitness!
