JOB SUMMARY
Sporticulture is a sports licensing and consumer products company that designs and distributes officially licensed merchandise for major sports leagues including the NFL MLB NHL and collegiate programs. Our product portfolio spans home décor seasonal décor crafts novelty items lighting garden décor and horticulture-inspired fan merchandise distributed through premier retail partners such as Walmart Costco Kroger Fanatics Target and other national retailers.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Liquidation Specialist to manage the end-to-end process of liquidating excess aged and overstock inventory. This role is critical to recovering maximum value from surplus product while keeping our inventory lean and our operations efficient. The ideal candidate is analytical commercially minded and highly organized someone who can identify the right channels negotiate favorable terms and execute liquidation plans with speed and precision.

Position: Liquidation Specialist

Department: Operations / Inventory Management
Reports To: Operations Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Assessment & Strategy
Identify and evaluate excess aged slow-moving and overstock inventory across all product categories
Develop and execute liquidation strategies to maximize recovery value while minimizing carrying costs
Collaborate with the operations and purchasing teams to forecast surplus inventory and proactively plan liquidation timelines
Prioritize inventory for liquidation based on age cost condition and channel suitability
Channel Management & Sales Execution
Source evaluate and manage relationships with liquidation buyers off-price retailers wholesalers and online marketplaces
Negotiate pricing terms and volume agreements to achieve the best possible recovery rates
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of liquidation orders
Explore and recommend new liquidation channels to expand recovery opportunities
Reporting & Performance Tracking
Maintain accurate records of all liquidation transactions pricing and channel performance
Track recovery rates and compare against cost benchmarks; report findings to leadership on a regular cadence
Identify trends in surplus inventory and provide recommendations to reduce future overstock situations
Build and maintain a liquidation pipeline dashboard for real-time visibility
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with the buying operations and finance teams to align liquidation plans with business objectives
Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders on inventory status liquidation timelines and expected recoveries
Assist in managing product lifecycle decisions including markdown strategies and end-of-life planning
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in liquidation inventory management wholesale buying/selling or a closely related field
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing favorable deals
Solid analytical skills comfortable working with data spreadsheets and inventory reports
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple liquidation projects simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work independently and make sound commercial decisions with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in consumer products licensed merchandise retail or e-commerce industries
Familiarity with liquidation marketplaces and platforms (e.g. B-Stock Direct Liquidation BULQ Amazon Liquidations)
Experience working with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Background in supply chain procurement or wholesale distribution
Experience building or managing vendor/buyer relationships in a remote environment
Knowledge of licensed sports merchandise or seasonal consumer goods a plus
REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work within US business hours (overlap required)
Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable remote work setup
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data tracking and reporting
Comfortable using project management and communication tools (e.g. Teams Slack Asana)
High attention to detail and a results-driven mindset
Ability to handle confidential commercial information with discretion
