Job Summary
A motivated and detail-oriented Hydropower Site Assessment Analyst will be responsible for supporting the early-stage identification technical evaluation and due diligence of potential hydropower sites (primarily existing dams and rivers). This is a field-oriented role ideal for someone with years of experience who enjoys travel and hands-on technical assessment work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct site visits and technical assessments of existing dams and river sites across Nigeria for potential brownfield retrofits or greenfield development.
  • Collect and analyze hydrological data flow measurements head calculations and site photographs.
  • Assess the renovation and upgrade potential of existing dams (civil condition outlet works spillways etc.).
  • Support the preparation of site assessment reports preliminary feasibility studies and power output estimates.
  • Assist in updating hydrological models and flow duration curves.
  • Coordinate with local communities River Basin Development Authorities and government agencies during site visits.
  • Support the Technical Lead in preparing technical documentation for investors REA SPIN and NERC applications.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of solar-hybrid opportunities where relevant (solar knowledge is a plus).
  • Maintain a database of assessed sites with technical findings and recommendations.


Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical Civil) or a related discipline.
  • 35 years experience in bid/tender preparation within oil & gas EPC or construction industries.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills; ability to interpret technical drawings and documents.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 35 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project development site assessment or hydropower/dam evaluation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Nigeria (fieldwork will be a major part of the role).
  • Basic knowledge of hydropower principles hydrology and site assessment methodologies.
  • Experience with solar PV systems is a strong advantage but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and basic engineering software (AutoCAD GIS or RETScreen is a plus).
  • Strong report writing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in remote locations.
