Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is an internationally orientedresearch university specializing in engineering science & technology and is known for its large scientific andsets its focus on complex social challenges by concentrating its education and research on three Strategic Areas: Energy Health and Smart Mobility.

An ambitious university requires dedicated support to our scientists within the fields ofResearch Data Management (RDM)and Open Science. This support is provided by the ProductAreaResearchaspartoftheLibraryandInformation Services(LIS). Within the productareaResearch IT Consultants and Data Stewards closely collaborate in theResearch DataInfrastructurelabandtheSuper Computing Centreto support our research community.

Theposition

The data steward team vision is to help researchers with new challenges in a collaborative way while being an advocate of open & responsible scientific practicesthattranscend TU/ are looking for a Data Steward with good understanding ofresearchdatamanagement research data infrastructureandprivacy and ethics in will serve as first-line support for researchers in addressing internal and external requirementsregardinginteroperability.

Your tasks and responsibilities are best described asfollows:

  • SupportandadviseourResearchersonRDM-relatedissuessuchas:
  • Data Management Plans (DMP);
  • Datamanagementparagraphs for grant proposals;
  • Collectionstoragepublicationand archival ofresearch data;
  • FAIR principlesinresearch data focusing on interoperability;
  • Hands-on supportactivelyimplementingthe RDM policy.

SupportandadviseResearchersonprivacy-relatedissuessuchas:

  • Informed consent and privacy notices;
  • Evaluatingprivacyroleswithinresearchcollaborationsandconsortiaandidentifyingthe needed agreements and documents;
  • Assessingprivacyandlegalrisks(includingcopyrightandlicensing) during the entire research lifecycle;
  • DataProtectionImpactAssessments(DPIA)incollaborationwiththe Privacy team;
  • Develop and providetrainingson RDM and privacy/GDPR compliance.

Support and collaborate with your teamsand yourdepartments such as:

  • Being part of theHub- data steward- Product Area Research- team;
  • Achieving teamobjectivesby working together with others;
  • Establishafunctionalandappropriateservicessupplychainforresearchersin coordination with colleagues of the Product Area Research.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a new colleague with the following qualifications andcharacteristics:

  • AnacademiclevelofworkandthinkingpreferablyacompletedMasterorPhDinthe technical or medical sciences and an affinity with research practice;
  • within arelatively newfield of work in support of scientific research;
  • Youhave the ability toeasily assimilate knowledge and are not afraid to learn on the job;
  • Youareskilledintransferringandsharingknowledgetostaffstudentsjunior researchers and senior researchers;
  • Abilitytoconnectandtranslatevariousrequirements()into solutions and best practices with regards to RDM and data stewardship;
  • Customer-orientedandsupportivewayofworkingyougainenergyfromsupportingand solving issues for others within the organization;
  • Networking skills and you feel comfortable with connecting people and building networks;
  • Excellentcommunicationandnegotiatingskillsandyouareabletobeauthoritativewhen the situation requires it;
  • Dutch language is not a requirement but it is an advantage.

Preferably youhave:

  • Experienceinhandlingprivacy-sensitivedataandknowledgeofGDPRand/orwillingness to develop yourself further in this field.
  • ExperienceinorademonstrableaffinitywithRDManddatastewardshipwithinhigher education or a research institution.
  • KnowledgewhichwillcontributetoapplyingFAIRprinciplestoresearchdata.
