Mission of the role:
Within the Network & Cybersecurity Services (NCS) division of GBS IT the Network And Connectivity (NAC) department is composed of the SDM Team the Expertise Team and the Network Operation Center (NOC) team.
The NOC serves as the operational hub for our Network and Security infrastructures. The NOC has over 40 professionals structured into two distinct yet complementary teams:
- NOC Back Office: Focus on the day-to-day operation of services.
- NOC Front Office: Provide crucial support to the Back Office focusing on industrialization process management and operational oversight of infrastructure and managed services.
The network & security support engineer plays a critical role in incident and change management.
Your impact:
As Network & Security Support Engineer you will directly contribute to the objectives of the area by participating in key activities such as:
- Support technology solution architects in reviewing high-level (HDL) and low-level (LLD) designs in order to collaborate on the integration of new devices links and security controls that ensure network service assurance and continuity.
- Participate in the sessions organized by the Change Advisory Board to propose and seek approval for changes required in Engies network infrastructure. This is aimed at addressing the operational needs of the business.
- Update the technical documentation related to Engies networks as well as the various information repositories using office tools and network diagram design tools. This is to ensure the areas information is organized and up-to-date for accurate decision-making.
- Produce documentation to meet production criteria (Go / No Go) through the structured analysis of business proposals and needs in conjunction with the current technical and operational capabilities.
- Review the technical documentation (operational documents) generated within the department as well as that coming from external suppliers and internal clients in order to keep it up to date for accurate decision-making.
- Manage the strategy to assess the security of ENGIE Mexicos networks both internal and in the cloud prioritizing confidentiality integrity and availability of the information transferred in corporate networks. For industrial networks consider availability integrity and confidentiality in order to ensure operational continuity and maintain control over the infrastructure. Coordinate and execute the annual controlled DRP tests to confirm its proper functioning in case of a contingency or to correct any issues that may arise.
- Change Management: Assist in creating testing and developing solutions and PoCs (Proof of Concept) engage in validation and approval processes and support the optimization and implementation of technical solutions. Technical implementation of routine low medium and high priority changes. Qualification of requests and impact assessments. Integration of changes into management tools.
- Planning of changes: Define and write a detailed intervention plan (DIP) ensuring compliance with change management and production processes. Implementation of changes during business hours (BH) and non-business hours (NBH). Updating technical reference documents and related databases
- Updating technical documentation (Operational Documents).
- Contribution to the acceptance process: Execution of production tasks (inventory updates monitoring setup backups maintenance). Automate deployments develop technical foundations manage configurations and integrate them into operational management tools for efficient operations.
- Incident and Problem Management: Incident and crisis management. Resolution of P4 P3 P2 and P1 incidents. Drafting incident reports (post-mortem documents). Mobilization of resources and coordination with third-party providers.
- Problem management: Make root cause analysis and documents. Contribute to the definition of long-term solutions.
- Documentation: Updating assets in the CMDB (Configuration Management DataBase). Creation or updates of network diagrams to different levels. Creation or updates of operational procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 10 years of professional experience. At least 4 years of technical experience in network and security operations in a complex infrastructure context.
- Technical Skills: knowledge of networks and security infrastructures Cisco LAN/Wi-Fi technologies Cisco SD-WAN technologies ITIL standards BGP OSPF HSRP VPC routing with the internet Firewall security (Palo Alto Fortinet) DNS/DHCP technologies AWS/Azure technologies Zscaler technologies Monitoring and log collection (Spectrum Splunk Netscout).
- Occasional travel may be required
