VMS Driver Operative Starting salary of 25300 Based out of Romford or Watford depot

The Job:

The primary role of a VMS Driver Operative is to support the VMS operations team in deploying and setting up our clients VMS units at locations provided by our customers. This role also involves collecting units when offhired conducting offhire inspections and minor repairs and preparing units for hire in the depot.

Additionally responsibilities include carrying out battery exchanges cleaning and inspections on longterm hires in the field as well as assisting the local depot in preparing delivering and collecting traffic lights and other products.

Main Activities:

• Ensure all work within depots and customer sites prioritizes safety for oneself colleagues and clients.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and prevent/minimize environmental pollution incidents.
• Identify and mitigate potential hazards reporting near misses promptly.
• Comply with company health and safety procedures toolbox talks risk assessments method statements and COSHH assessments.
• Conduct oneself professionally and courteously while attending client sites.
• Adhere to all client local site rules.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues across all departments.

The Key Duties:

• Ensure adherence to safe working procedures.
• Deliver and collect VMS CCTV and traffic lights.
• Conduct full inspection service and repair of the hire fleet.
• Complete all relevant paperwork for delivery collection and inspection.
• Identify fair wear and tear and customer damage.
• Maintain cleanliness and legal compliance of the vehicle through daily checks.
• Ensure SRL checked equipment is fit for purpose.
• Liaise with customers before and after visits.
• Work safely wear appropriate PPE and keep work areas tidy.
• Occasionally work away from home and during night shifts.

Essential Experience:

• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Full driving licence with no more than 6 points.

Desirable Experience:

• Basic electrical fault finding skills.
• Experience in a Highways environment.
• Basic knowledge of traffic light equipment.
• CSCS card holder.
• Competent in driving company vehicles and towing trailers with loaded plant equipment.

Desirable Qualifications:

• GCSEs in English and Mathematics.
• City and Guilds qualification or equivalent in highways installations.
• Sector 8 Accreditation Health and Safety qualifications including NRSWA G39 and ECS.
