Transportation Manager
Position Summary:
Plan coordinate and develop a transportation plan that meets customer expectations and
requirements in the most costeffective manner.
Manage a team of up to 8 transportation and billing coordinators.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for daytoday shipping and transportation scheduling activities
Focus team activities on key performance measures designed to deliver business results.
Manage exceptions special orders or special requirements together with team and internal
customers. Support coordinators when required to identify and create effective solutions.
Monitor carrier performance and ensure exceptions are documented and communicated to
appropriate team members.
Facilitate regular carrier meetings to discuss carrier performance and safety issues. Issue a
monthly/quarterly carrier score card.
Foster a strong working relationship with all partner carriers.
Coordinate with AP team on frt invoicing activities (demurrage accessorial etc.)
Schedule staff to ensure appropriate coverage. Back up transportation coordinators as needed
staff
Promote safe work activities and attend company safety meetings.
Fleet Management
Company point person for customs compliance.
Support Director with reporting requirements and with special projects as required (e.g. RFI
RFP strategys budget)
Secondary Responsibilities:
Participate in meetings and committees to communicate information and serve as a liaison
with other departments and managers
Maintain housekeeping
Maintain or create SOPs and work instructions
Actively participate in continuous improvement and problemsolving initiatives
Adhere to and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned for which he/she has received training possess qualifications and/or is considered competent
Educational and Experience Requirements for this position:
Experience managing a team
Flatbed experience preferred
Experience with identifying creating and implementing KPI
Postsecondary education in logistics business or related preferred;
Transportation planning or scheduling experience;
Familiar with North American Transportation
Familiar with cross border activities;
Familiar with SOP and Work Instruction formats
Advanced Microsoft Excel;
Working knowledge of ERP systems;
Writing/verbal communication ability
