Description:
  • Previous linear infrastructure sitting experience desired with scientific/natural resourcebased education preference and analytical mindset.
Trans Line Siting Specialist
  • Bachelors degree in planning Land Use Planning Environmental or Natural Science Engineering Geography or related fields.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of one to two years experience working in Utility Siting and/or Environmental Specialist or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Google Earth Pro Microsoft Office computer applications is desired.
  • Excellent written or organizational presentation oral communication and time management skills. The ability to handle multiple projects and assignments is critical.

  • Bachelors degree in Planning Land Use Planning Environmental or Natural Science Engineering Geography or related field.
Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 611 years total industry experience.
  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Google Earth Pro and Microsoft Office computer applications is required.
  • Excellent written or organizational presentation oral communication and time management skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and assignments is critical.
  • A professional license or certification is desired but not required.
  • This role is responsible for coordinating the sitting environmental studies and permitting execution for multimilliondollar electric transmission line and substation projects.
  • Projects can range from small scale to hundreds of miles in length traversing multiple states.
  • Understand the full range of issues related to the successful siting and permitting of a transmission project and will be accountable for making sound recommendations and decisions.
  • Areas of required expertise include environmental (cultural natural and visual resource assessment) utility corridor siting (utility regulatory requirements stakeholder interaction and permitting requirements).
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
  • Ensure that transmission siting/environmental/permitting activities are performed in accordance with the policies practices and standards of the Company and regulations and procedures as required by federal state or local regulatory agencies.
  • Organize the environmental studies to meet inservice dates and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the oversight of outsourcing related to siting/environmental.
  • Work interdependently with a multidisciplinary project team to identify buildable cost effective routes and facilities which minimize environmental impacts.
  • Serve as liaison with client Environmental Services on all environmental aspects of the projects.
  • Determine siting/environmental/permitting risks tasks scopes and cost estimates.
  • Assist in and prepare environmental siting assessments and routing studies for transmission facility projects.
  • Coordinate regulatory and local zoning applications (writing exhibits testimony interrogatories schedule etc.)
  • Develop and monitor schedules to complete siting/environmental/permitting tasks and manage identified risks.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and public workshops.
  • Assist in preparing testimony and testify before federal state and local agencies concerning transmission routing and substation siting.
  • Organize and facilitate project meetings related to siting/environmental/permitting.
  • Assist in evaluating the impact of proposed legislation and regulations on transmission projects and provide input to the development process.
  • Build networks that extend through client and other companies and regulatory agencies.
  • Improve standardization and process development.
  • Make presentations to civic groups property owners regulatory agencies and client employees.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Additional Requirements:
  • Travel requirements are expected 1020% of the time. Must have a valid drivers license the ability to rent a vehicle and the ability to drive 28 hours at time to attend site visits meet with landowners or participate in open houses and stakeholder meetings.
  • May require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks to meet requirements and schedules.
  • Overnight travel to facilities and projects (field work) is required.
  • Position requires travel and exposure to situations which require knowledge understanding and adherence to applicable safety procedures and ability to hike or walk one to three miles on occasion.
