We are hiring a Technical Support Specialist/Desktop Support I for one of our clients in Philadelphia PA.

Job Description:

The client seeks a Temporary Network Technician in the Information Systems (ISM) Management Department. Under basic supervision identify troubleshoot resolve and maintain computer hardware software and peripheral equipment as well as the data communications equipment within the network infrastructure for the Information Systems Management (ISM) Department. Also has a responsibility to analyze and fix networkrelated problems reported by users.

• Maintains the ISM network applications and infrastructure and verifies the integrity security and effective performance of network systems;
• Performs work within scope of authority and training and according to ISM policies and procedures; duties may vary according to job assignment.
• Identifies troubleshoots and resolves hardware software and networkrelated problems encountered by end users.
• Configures and installs desktop computers notebook computers and mobile devices in response to the demands of a complex network environment.
• Performs technical work in the operation and maintenance of assigned network systems computers and peripherals;
• Identifies and resolves application problems.
• Identifies defines and resolves network system problems and user conflicts; installs and configures new hardware and software; monitors and tunes the network for optimal performance.
• Resolves configuration and connectivity issues and other network traffic security or access problems.
• Documents all changes; performs backup and restore functions.
• Maintains work log of service requests equipment malfunctions software errors failures and technical configurations; identifies and reports trends and technical problems which need to be addressed by improved methodologies procedures and policies.
• Physical demands activities environmental conditions Work is performed in a standard office environment.
• Physical dexterity is required to work in confined spaces and use precision tools and equipment; requires vision capacity to perform fine calibrations and differentiate between colored wires.
• Required to regularly lift up to 50lbs.
• Occasional requirements: Ascending or descending ladders stairs scaffolding ramps poles and the like.
• Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks including from one work site to another.
• Remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

Skills required:

• Product knowledge and technical skills to install PC components and operating systems.
• Analyzing basic network problems evaluating alternatives and developing solutions based on findings.
• Maintaining network hardware switches routers and network cabling requirements.
• Analyzing equipment and system malfunctions troubleshooting computers and software applications and determining effective solutions.
• Troubleshoot network issues quickly by identifying the sources of the problem.
• Solving technical problems involving multiple operating systems applications and platforms. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Responding to emails fax walkins effectively with professionalism.
• Excellent communication both orally and in writing.
• Basic understanding computer hardware and software systems.
• Problem solving skills.
• Time Management skills.
• Attention to detail ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Strong handson experience with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint.
• Ability to install and configure software applications such as email application systems.
• Ability to interact with people of different social economic and ethnic backgrounds.
• A Valid Pennsylvania Drivers License is Required

Experience Required:

• Two (2) or more years of experience with hardware and software diagnostics and maintenance within a corporate IT environment; or a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Education Required:

• High School Diploma or GED and two (2) or more years of experience with hardware and software diagnostics and maintenance within a corporate IT environment; or a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Working hours:

• 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
