As we continue to grow we are looking for a Technical Support Engineer who is passionate about technology and delivering exceptional customer service.

Tasks

About the role

Were looking for a 1st Line Technical Support Engineer who is versatile and can manage a diverse set of responsibilities with a solid foundational knowledge in Linux. A general understanding of networking will also be beneficial. Your role will primarily involve being the first point of contact for all customer inquiries in addition to supporting various ongoing projects and developing your skills through onthejob training.

Candidates must have a strong work ethic and be comfortable at troubleshooting technical issues taking ownership of tasks while also knowing when it is appropriate to escalate.

This role also includes some simple sales and billing tasks and depending on the location may include hands on with hardware cabling and equipment in our data centres as well as and managing our inventory areas.

An ideal candidate would be passionate about providing an excellent quality of service to our customers and have firstclass communication skills. Previous experience in a serviceoriented customerfacing role is required.

Working Hours Location and Eligibility

  • Hours: Fulltime 40 hours per week including a 30minute daily PAID break time.
  • Weekend Work: Candidates must be willing to work on weekends.
  • Location: This is a remote role; however occasional business trips may occur. Living in or near Frankfurt Amsterdam or London is beneficial but not required.
    Candidates must reside in the UK EU or USA and have the legal right to work in their location. Verification of work eligibility will be required.
  • Home Office Requirements: Candidates must have a reliable highspeed internet connection and a dedicated quiet workspace at home. This is essential for maintaining productivity and ensuring the ability to participate in clear uninterrupted communication with the team and customers.

Requirements

Technical Specification

The ideal candidate will have had exposure to most of the following:

Essential:

  • At least 1 years experience of installation and management of Linux even if that is selftaught
  • Some command line experience on a Linux operating system
  • A basic understanding of server technology/hardware
  • A basic Understanding of IP networks; IPv4 TCP/IP LAN/WAN DHCP DNS
  • Exposure to using SSH to access servers
  • Minimum of 1 years of customer service/technical support experience.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and logical thinking
  • Outstanding attention to detail and excellent teamwork skills
  • Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills

The following are not essential but exposure to some of the following would be an advantage.

Desirable:

  • Basic shell scripting knowledge (Linux/BASH)
  • A genuine interest in Linux and the cloud/hosting industry
  • Exposure to any of the following: Apache NginX php MySQL docker pxe/ipxe apt yum general ticket systems.
  • Understanding of VPN principals.
  • Exposure to and management of virtual servers ideally KVM based
  • Experience working with DRAC iLO IPMI
  • Some exposure to HP Dell or Supermicro hardware
