Job Summary:

To be responsible for all aspects of designing leading and facilitating group sessions delivering high quality substance misuse service provision to young people in line with Camden s Early Help and Resilience Families strategies and the National Drug Treatment Service requirement.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

To deliver specialist tier 2 substance misuse interventions to young people aged up to 25 within the Borough of Camden specifically leading in supporting young people with learning needs. In addition offer training for a range of professionals in the community.

To use a variety of creative and innovative approaches to effectively engage young people and their parent/carers incorporating specialist methods such as motivational interviewing harm minimisation solution focused and relapse prevention work.

To provide information and advice to professionals parents and carers in relation to substance misuse

To provide training and advice to partnership agencies on substance misuse

To maintain clear precise and appropriate case management records on IT client information systems in accordance with local and national standards.

To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.

To work closely with partnership agencies and referring on as necessary to ensure positive outcomes for young people.

Utilise effective planning monitoring and evaluation techniques to assess the quality of the work being delivered against quality assurance and local and national inspection frameworks taking action when required to address work that falls below a satisfactory standard.

Essential Experience Required:

Experience of assessment and planning for children and young people and of case recording using administrative and monitoring systems.

Experience of building and maintaining successful partnerships with treatment providers and key stakeholders.

Experience of case management with young people at risk of offending and their families in a statutory or voluntary sector setting.

Experience of delivering substance misuse interventions with young people including drug/alcohol related treatment and harm reduction approaches Intermediate

Experience of delivering training and group interventions with young people.

Experience of working with children adolescents and their families in a multicultural setting.

Knowledge of legislation and current practice around delivering substance misuse treatment.

Knowledge of the physical social and psychological needs of children and young people and how substance misuse impacts on these areas.

Proven ability in working with partner agencies in establishing effective working relationships within a multiagency environment.

Proven ability of undertaking substance misuse assessments; designing and implementing SM intervention plans; monitoring and reviewing such plans.

Track record of positively influencing young people to support changes in behaviour.

Essential Qualifications Required:

Relevant qualification e.g. Substance Misuse Counselling Health Social Work Youth Work Education.
