Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead SQL DBA to join our team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration particularly with SQL Server. This is a contract position requiring onsite presence from day one and we are seeking local candidates only.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the administration and maintenance of SQL Server databases in a production environment.
• Design implement and optimize database structures and schemas.
• Perform database tuning monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage database security access controls and permissions.
• Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure database availability and reliability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in database administration.

Requirements:

• 10 years of experience in database administration with a focus on SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of database design principles normalization and indexing strategies.
• Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries and database operations.
• Experience with backup and recovery procedures including High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve databaserelated issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field preferred.
