Shop Foreman / Welder / Fabricator

My client has been in business for over 45 years. They design manufacture install service and upgrade material handling equipment.

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Shop Foreman / Fabricator to work inside our shop in Merrillville Indiana. This is a fulltime MondayFriday position 5 AM to 3 PM with some Saturday and Sunday hours as needed.

Job Description:

The Shop Foreman is responsible for the safety control maintenance and supervision of equipment manpower and use of materials in his/her assigned area of responsibility. The Shop Foreman is responsible for the staffing and scheduling of all personnel directly associated with the production operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision to 5 shop fabricators and shop painter to maintain a pace of work to achieve our production goals.
  • Monitors scheduling
  • Interacts with Engineers and print reading
  • Communicate with the fabricators to accurately produce equipment with the upmost quality while maintaining safety.
  • Maintains the shop equipment and orders supplies for the shop to run smoothly.
  • Fabricate machinery using Mig welding equipment.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Work with hand tools power tools and other fabrication equipment.
  • Perform work with high attention to detail to ensure product quality.
  • Follow company guidelines policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years supervisory position
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in industrial machinery fabrication. With an emphasis on layout and print reading.
  • Must have or able to pass welding test AWS D14.1 (welding of industrial and mill cranes)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Selfstarter/ work with little supervision.
  • Ability to handle physical workload.
