Sewing Machine Operator

Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate sewing machines to join reinforce or decorate materials
• Monitor machine operation to detect problems like defective stitching or machine malfunctions
• Read and interpret work orders production schedules or instructions to determine materials required and sewing operations
• Inspect products for defects and conformity to quality standards
• Position materials under the needle to sew them together
• Replace and rethread needles
• Align parts or workpieces to ensure proper assembly
• Conduct regular maintenance on sewing machines
• Track production and complete production reports
• Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as a sewing machine operator or similar role
• Ability to read and interpret production orders and layouts
• Knowledge of different types of sewing machines and their functions
• Familiarity with different fabrics and materials
• Physical dexterity and stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials
• Attention to detail and qualityoriented mindset
• Basic math skills for measuring and calculating fabric requirements
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Good communication skills to follow instructions and interact with team members
