We are seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to support the Naval Enterprise Network Engineering Team. This is a fulltime position working as a Senior System Center Monitoring (SCOM) Systems Engineer in San Diego CA. If you are comfortable in intense fastpaced environments can think on your feet excel in teambased collaborative efforts and can tolerate visiting some of the most exotic locations in the world this may be the right job for you. The Senior Systems Engineer will shape the design and development of systems and evolve them with advanced technology solutions. This is a hybrid role with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop systems and evolve them with advanced technology solutions.
  • Perform administrative design engineering and operational tasks for a global enterprise SCOM system supporting the Navy.
  • Perform proactive security posture review; patch installation; and updates to the SCOM console.
  • Perform custom SCOM role and Management Packs deployment building SCOM views.
  • Create custom reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies. Building executive dashboards will all be crucial aspects of ensuring the systems optimal functionality.
  • Identify application and infrastructure performance and scalability trends implement new solutions and processes that fix issues and continually strive toward moving from a reactive stance to a proactive stance.
  • Work closely with the application and infrastructure teams to set up automation runbooks for applications servers databases and network devices to ensure applications deployed will properly scale and meet expected SLAs for Performance Availability Scalability and Stability. This will create an effective monitoring solution and assist in establishing the appropriate response to those events through processes and procedures enabling level 1 and 2 teams to resolve as many issues as possible.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Possession of and the ability to maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance.
  • Experience working in large enterprise operations environment including the identification development analysis scheduling and managing of enterprise IT activities solutions and risk mitigations artifacts and migrations.
  • Experience with architecting designing securing installing troubleshooting and documenting integrated server or network solutions.
  • The ability to communicate with senior management and customers.
  • The ability to multitask and balance multiple goals and priorities.
  • Selfmotivation strong work ethic and commitment to quality and teamwork.
  • A passion for learning.
  • 7 years of experience in an IT system engineering role including developing architecture and design of complex distributed IT systems environments.
  • 5 years of experience with the installation configuration and administration of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • 3 years of experience with mid to enterprisescale networks.
  • HS diploma or GED.
  • DoD 8570.11 IAT Level II Certification (e.g. Security CE CCNASecurity GSEC or SSCP) in addition to Operating Environment (OE) certification for Microsoft Platforms/Solutions.

Preferred:

  • Experience with applying systems engineering fundamental concepts processes practices and procedures on technical assignments.
  • Experience with enterprise server storage networking software and application services or equivalent depth in a single solution platform.
  • Experience in collaborating with other internal and external enterprise technologists to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience in supporting and coordinating across seniorlevel organizations.
  • Experience with mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience with cloudbased technology.
  • Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or Engineering.
  • CASP or CISSP Certification.
