The Senior Systems Administrator is a highly technical and professional position in the IT infrastructure group. The position involves the use of comprehensive knowledge, competency, and experience to perform Senior IT Administrator duties supporting enterprise level technical administration, research, evaluation, troubleshooting and recommendation of software and hardware products. Performs maintenance, development, implementation, sustainment, and reliability of enterprise level information technology systems within Windows, VMWare, and Cloud environments. This position reports to the Assistant IT Director.
Examples of Duties - Responsible for overall administration and performance of the employer's computer network including user authorization and access, utilization tracking, protocol analysis, and network troubleshooting as well as Internet and Email administration.
- Responsible for analysis, design, configuration, implementation, diagnostics, performance tuning, administration, and maintenance of the employers computer/server architecture.
- Installs and configures network server hardware, operating systems, clients, peripherals, and other network components/devices to support a large-scale infrastructure environment.
- Develops and maintains appropriate data backup and recovery strategy and procedures for network servers and other data systems. Ensure timely and consistent backup of all network servers and data.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining an effective Disaster Recovery plan encompassing all systems supported by the IT Department, including thorough Disaster Recovery documentation.
- Initiates and coordinates all computer network/infrastructure-related projects through the design and implementation phases.
- Evaluates new technology and products and makes recommendations for enhancements/expansion for pro-active operational and secure technology advancements.
- Provides input to the development of the department's annual budget and ensures expenditures are in compliance with existing budget. Interacts with vendors to ensure appropriate infrastructure licensing and maintenance continuity.
- Responsible for coordinating projects requiring the involvement of the employer's Fiber Network Communications Enterprise staff and projects that provide interconnectivity between the employer and other external agencies.
- Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware, network operating systems, file and print services, email and internet services, cloud-based applications, and advanced connectivity issues.
- Develops and maintains full computer network/infrastructure documentation including network diagrams with detail describing functionality of all connected components and inter-relationships as well as computer networking standards and procedures.
- Implements tools and utilities for remote client administration and automation of network administration tasks including VPN and MFA systems and technology.
- Ensures proper Change Management procedures are followed and backups are made before implementing any changes.
- Assists in training of personnel in proper utilization of the computer/server resources and networked applications as required. Maintains the highest standards of security and appropriate use of all computer systems.
- Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all network server equipment and software ensuring adequate equipment maintenance coverage and software licensing.
- Provides regular progress/status updates on projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with major coursework in Computer Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 4 years of paid experience of a progressively responsible nature in administration of virtual server hardware and software, and Infrastructure systems Design and Administration.
An equivalent combination of training and professional experience may substitute for educational requirements.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operators Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Microsoft Professional certification such as a MCE or MCSA required or ability to obtain within 2 years of being in position.
Certification or certified training in Microsoft Windows Server Administration.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS VCP, Security+ and Network+ certifications are preferred.

Salary: $67,500.00 - $121,900.00 Annually
