Horizon Controls Group are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PLC Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Senior PLC Engineer will play a key role in the design development implementation and maintenance of PLCbased control systems within our highly automated and highly regulated biotech plant. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working with Rockwell PLCs with exposure to Siemens PLCs being beneficial.
Designing programming testing and commissioning PLCbased control systems to automate manufacturing processes in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborating with crossfunctional teams including process engineers automation engineers maintenance technicians and operations to develop efficient and reliable control strategies.
Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to PLC programming hardware and communication networks to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted operation of production processes.
Providing technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and technicians in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Participating in the evaluation and selection of new automation technologies and equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Developing and maintaining documentation including software design specifications software test specifications standard operating procedures and change control records in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations in all aspects of PLC programming and system integration.
Developing and maintaining efficient and reliable automation strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in PLC programming and automation within a manufacturing environment preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Extensive handson experience with Rockwell PLC platforms (e.g. ControlLogix CompactLogix) is required.
Familiarity with Siemens PLC platforms (e.g. TIA Portal WinCC) is highly desirable.
Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic function block diagram (FBD) and structured text (ST).
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP Profibus Modbus) and networking concepts.
Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e.g. Wonderware FactoryTalk) is a plus.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. FDA GMP GAMP) related to automation and control systems in the biotech industry.
Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
