Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer at and engineers structural & sheet metal fabrications: conveyors & conveyor systems enclosures and power bases. An integral part of the company the Mechanical Design Engineer interfaces with staff and customers to produce timely high quality costeffective products that meet customer specifications and result in customer satisfaction. Working with Sales under the direction of the companys owners the Mechanical Design Engineer contributes to the success of the company by providing worldclass technical and customer service skills. The Mechanical Design Engineer looks for improvements in all aspects of Mechanical Design Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Product Design and Engineering

• Conducts product research and analysis to determine proper components and fabrication materials and process evaluating products parts or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations.
• Produces and updates engineering drawings and standard drawings of mechanical components and /or equipment using AutoCad and Solidworks software.
• Relies on instructions and preestablished guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Maintains engineering files including plans inspections and other data related to engineering.
• Prepares and updates engineering documents and reports in MS Word and Excel.

2) Sales Engineering & Application and Field Work

• Attends project meetings as required.
• Assists with proposals and other sales support as required.
• Assists Applications Engineer and sales with customer concepts as required.
• Performs technical work which may involve plan review analyzing estimate vs. actual cost preparing and revising quotes and standard details; completing change orders.
• Updates drawings and performs related work as required.
• Oversees installations and startups as appropriate.

3) Preparing Bills Routers & Drawings for Shop Floor

• Processes and releases to shop for production a variety of incoming customer orders.
• Prepares and releases drawings documentation and material requests.
• Completes General Arrangement drawings detailed shop working drawings and bill of materials as required.
• Prepares programs for the Strippit and Plasma burner machines using Radan software.
• Completes shop release including bills and routers.
• Receives and responds to shop problems related to engineering.
• Conducts shop observations of jobs.

4) Serves as Project Manager

Works with customers vendors and shop personnel to identify needs costeffectively design and engineer products and work as necessary to satisfy delivery requirements.

• Provides assistance to subcontractors as may be necessary.
• Take responsibility for necessary paperwork and for arranging the shipment of jobs.

Qualifications:

• Excellent engineering knowledge
• Working knowledge of metal fabrication
• Knowledge of material handling design & engineering
• Autocad
• 2D & 3D CAD
• CAM Programming

Job Context:

• Education Minimum: AAS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; BSME degree or BS in Engineering Technology desired
• Jobrelated experience: At least 2 years experience as design engineer or mechanical designer; Product & Sales Engineering Cost Estimating Writing Proposals conveyor and conveyor design experience
• Reporting Level: Management
• Travel/Time away from home: Occasional daytime or overnight travel required
• Working hours: normal for exempt employee
• Physical/Environmental Hazards: Long periods of sitting high noise level from shop environment physical hazards from shop environment
• Physical/Cognitive Essential Functions:
