Job Mission

We are now looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Engineering Manager to help us on our continued journey and growth within House of Engineering and specifically our Trading Product Area. As a Senior Engineering Manager at Tibber you will inspire be the manager of and apply leadership to the Engineers and engineering efforts in your Product Area. Within this area you will be part of the Product Area Leadership where you will be a partner in crime with your Product Area Lead counterpart. In this role you will balance business and product impact with accountability for sustained technical innovation and delivery as well as keeping the lights on of the technology ownership of the area.

Tibber is on a mission to create Europes largest consumer Virtual Power Plant. As Senior Engineering Manager for Trading you will lead the engineering team that builds the growth engine to propel us across Europe. You will work on technology that is at the heart of pulling off a magic trick so powerful that it moves energy through time. The engineering effort to pull this off includes both power trading and flexibility trading and requires a wide range of technologies including building portfolio optimisation and algorithmic trading infrastructure that seamlessly integrate with the larger HEMS orchestration through Orleans actor model infrastructure.

Our Product Areas consist of development teams called squads and in this Product Area you will work with two squads both on Power Trading as well as Flexibility Trading. Youll also work with Tibbers engineering systems and the bigger engineering team as well as your engineering leadership to build highperforming development teams that find alignment on Product Area priorities so that we can reach higher levels of autonomy and ultimately speed.

This is you!

Relevant industry experience. Ideally you have proven experience working within the power trading industry. Having a focus around flexibility and specifically of distributed energy resources is a big plus.

Lead drive and facilitate complex technical delivery. This is within the Product Area whether its architectural alignment with Staff Engineers and Senior Engineers or coordinating and leading technical projects from start to finish that span across Product Areas.

You thrive when coaching mentoring and growing great people not just great tech and products. You do this with a big grain of humbleness and respect for each individuals growth and competency. You find yourself easily building rapport and trust with the people around you.

You have a proven track record of applying pragmatism to reaching your targets. You also follow this up with a solid leadership style that takes accountability for the longterm and strategic success of your teams technology and the value it provides to our customers.

The developer experience is close to your heart. You care for solid software practices and conscious experimentation letting data guide your decisions. You are an active part of the standups of your teams and are not afraid to lead within the rituals of the teams.

You have a strong engineering background. This allows you to quickly understand developer toils and challenges so that you can stay to the point and take correct action when needed. This also helps you in team discussions when tradeoffs to solutions need decisions to move forward.

Ideally you can

Inspire with your leadership. As your Product Area grows you will lead engineering managers with teams of their own as well as build and lead groups of engineers directly reporting to you through hiring coaching mentoring feedback and handson career development. Tibber is in constant change and growth and this requires dynamic and pragmatic leadership.

Mission achieve. Be a partnerincrime with the Trading Product Area Lead by driving the technical delivery and strategy to your reaching your mission.

Naturally facilitate. Facilitate collaboration with other engineers data analysts product managers and designers for solutions getting us closer to our mission.

Foster and nurture the team and its culture. Build and cultivate a healthy transparent and open engineering culture thats inclusive and really really fun to work in.

Grow and develop your team. Evangelize engineering best practices and grow the technical skills of the team.
