Senior Credit Analyst Corporates

Job Purpose

To provide credit risk analysis expertise to the Wholesale Banking Europe team in support of the Banks commercial activity in all product lines and with all types of counterparty.

Job Context

Close support to be provided to the business in order to evaluate and assess all types of risk (both financial and nonfinancial) towards the development of new corporate client relationships. Adherence to Risk Management policy and regulatory requirements. Close liaison with Risk Legal and Compliance in the fulfilment of duties.

The team operates in a challenging and pressurized environment in the middle of the WBE team. Requests from Relationship Managers often working within short timeframes with established external deadlines for approval. The Senior Credit Analyst holds detailed knowledge of the banks Credit Risk Policies and Procedures and will from timetotime question internal requirements with the relevant stakeholders if the proposal does not fit the banks risk appetite/credit policies.

Responsibilities Accountabilities & Deliverables

To undertake in a timely manner the preparation and submission of Credit Applications (CAFs) for new business proposals and annual reviews assisting and advising as required other Department members involved in such CAF preparations.

• To undertake indepth financial analysis of inter alia balance sheet profit & loss and cash flow statements in support of CAF presentations in line with best practices fully liaising where necessary with Relationship Managers Product Managers etc to ensure adequate information flows.

• To access as required external information sources and appropriate research databases in support of CAF presentations.

• In conjunction with Relationship Managers and others to undertake client visits and attend client calls and meetings as required for the purposes of information gathering and monitoring.

• To monitor current developments which may affect the Banks customers and recommend appropriate action if necessary.

• To comply with the Banks internal risk management policies (including Group Credit Policy) and procedures and general standards of operations.

• To liaise with Risk Management and other Bank departments as and when necessary.

• To comply with all relevant external legal regulatory and reporting requirements.

• To provide mentoring training and guidance to team members as and when necessary.

To support the Head of Client Credit Management in respect of the team and in adhoc riskrelated special tasks and projects.

Knowledge

• Detailed understanding of credit analysis (corporates banks NBFIs etc)
• Understanding of risks (financial and nonfinancial) covering various industries (not limited to oil & gas manufacturing real estate etc.)
• Detailed understanding of the Banks internal processes policies and procedures
• Awareness for and interest in international politics and economics

Experience

• Minimum three years corporate credit analysis experience
• Experience of projections and financial modelling an advantage
• Experience of trade finance products an advantage
