Senior Commercial Manager

Following the launch of ev.energy's new Data & Consulting Services offering, we are looking for a talented professional with commercial and technical B2B data experience to help develop and scale this offering into a global multi-million dollar business.

In this role, you will be working to accelerate the decarbonisation of transport and energy by expanding the reach and impact of ev.energy's Data as a Service (DaaS) offering. With the world's most comprehensive EV charging datasets, ev.energy is uniquely positioned to support a wide range of clients to make better decisions as the world transitions to electric vehicles.

Day to day, you ll work closely with the commercial, engineering and product teams to identify and deliver new revenue opportunities, while also helping to shape the product propositions we offer to charge point operators, automotive OEMs, energy retailers, governments and local authorities, research institutions and investors across the UK, US, Europe and beyond.

This industry is fast moving and will involve keeping up to date with key policy and regulation evolving in the EV and Net-Zero target space. Reporting to the Head of Grid & Data Services, this position is predominantly remote, ideally positioned within UK. We have regular local meet-ups and quarterly company team weeks to keep everyone connected and supported.

About us

ev.energy set up in 2018 to make electric vehicle charging greener, simpler and cheaper. We do this by ingesting real-time data from various sources which, partnered with our smart-charging algorithm, means we align charging sessions with energy from renewable sources, helping drivers avoid charging their car at peak times using fossil-fuel derived energy.

EVs are growing in popularity; a third of new cars sold by 2030 will be electric. At the same time, power outages in the US have already grown 64% from the previous decade, and the rise of EV ownership will likely cause further strain. Solutions like ours offer a way to reduce this demand on the grid, benefitting utilities as well as drivers and the environment.

To make this happen we ve brought together a great team of 100+ bringing expertise from previous roles at National Grid, Tesla, Amazon, Enel-X, Meta and others, secured over 50m USD in funding, and achieved accolades like World s Best Energy Start-Up in the Free Electrons programme. We re looking for more mission-driven and talented folk to join the team, working remotely in either Europe or North America, to drive change for the better.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a plan to scale ev.energy s Data-as-a-Service offering into a global multi-million dollar business with the Head of Grid & Data Services
  • Engage clients across multiple sectors (inc. charge point operators, vehicle OEMs, electricity networks, energy suppliers, government and consultancies) to grow a sustainable revenue pipeline.
  • Design, develop and sell new scalable data propositions based on client feedback.
  • Manage and grow client accounts, delivering consulting projects for major clients such as Scania, VW, UK Power Networks and National Grid.
  • Identify and apply for grant funding opportunities that strategically support the development of ev.energy s data capabilities.
  • Work with B2B marketing team to refine propositions and expand reach.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to develop and expand scalable DaaS solutions.
  • Help to build/scale a global team of data scientists, analysts and salespeople once revenue milestones are reached

What are we looking for?

  • Good experience working in data, energy or automotive
  • A proven track record of success in driving sales in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience selling to mid-market and enterprise clients, and confidence in dealing with complex and lengthy sales cycles where necessary
  • Drive and determination - you ll push to generate new business opportunities, create new introductions and achieve commercial success for yourself, the team and the company as a whole
  • Strong delivery focus, taking on end-to-end ownership of projects and/or products with an eye toward quality and client satisfaction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key decision-makers externally as well as peers internally
  • Be passionate about decarbonisation and the green future we re creating!
  • Ideally, data analytics skills and experience of applying for innovation/grant funding, as well as an understanding of electricity markets and DSR technologies

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

We are transparent about salaries internally - this role pays up to 88, 960 GBP.
