Senior Accountant Austria andor Switzerland

About the role

AniCura as part of Mars Veterinary Healthcare is rapidly growing through organic growth and acquisitions across Europe. As a Senior Accountant you will play a vital role in our accounting department during an exciting phase of growth in Austria and Switzerland.

You will be leading our activities in general accounting monthly quarterly and annual financial closures as well as in the financial integration of new clinics and financial transformation projects. You will be coordinating the work of 2 Accountants and collaborating with 6 clinics in Austria and 7 in Switzerland.

You will report to the CFO of the CHAPO cluster (Switzerland Austria and Poland) and be part of the Finance Leadership Team.

The role can be based in Vienna (Austria) or Warsaw (Poland). The role is permanent and fulltime.

Your key responsibilities will include

• Leading daily accounting and booking of ongoing business transactions
• Leading monthly quarterly and annual accounting book closures
• Ensuring that the reconciliations of accounts are accurate and up to date
• Close cooperation with the controlling department in the preparation of periodic financial reports
• Leading/coordinating the Accounting Team
• Following the AniCura Group Accounting standards and procedures (implement if needed)
• Training the Accounting Team in strong collaboration with the Market CFO
• Monitoring local market (Austria and/or Switzerland) accounting GAAPs changes
• Building a strong work relationship with the local operations teams (clinic Heads) being the first line of support in local accounting cases/questions
• Serving as a primary contact for authorities internal and external auditors
• Supporting financial transformation projects and the Finance Departments development
• Other tasks assigned by the direct superior

Position requirements

• At least 57 years of professional experience in the position as Senior Accountant or Chief Accountant
• Experience in working in a large organization with a Shared Service Center structure
• Experience with accounting period closing processes for the distributed data structures
• Proficient knowledge of Austrian and/or Swiss accounting GAAPs (US GAAP knowledge is nice to have)
• At least 2 years of experience in team coordination/management
• Fluency in German language is a must (daily communication with Germanspeaking stakeholders)
• Good communication skills in English
• Oracle system user skills
• MS Office (especially Excel) user skills
• An empathetic personality with excellent interpersonal teamwork and communication skills used to work in a matrix organization
