Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees visitors and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises
• Patrol the premises regularly to maintain order and establish a security presence
• Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
• Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property
• Apprehend criminals and evict violators
• Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences
• Report in detail any suspicious incidents
• Provide assistance to people in need
• Possess an understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
• Utilize communication devices to stay in contact with security personnel
• Escort or drive motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven work experience as a Security Guard or relevant position
• Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
• Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
• Surveillance skills and detail orientation
• Integrity and professionalism
• Certification in CPR and First Aid
• Strong observation and decisionmaking skills
• Physical abilities including strength agility and stamina
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills
• Valid guard card/license as required in the state of employment
• Familiarity with report writing
• Good judgment and the ability to think quickly
• Flexibility to work various shifts
