JOB OVERVIEW:

• We are seeking an energetic handson individual to join the Material Science and Characterization Lab.
• The lab is responsible for applying advanced analytical technologies to the characterization of materials used in consumer products.
• The lab is part of a Failure Analysis Team which provides failure analysis services to resolve reliability manufacturing and material design issues.
• The successful candidate will have interest in applying a variety of techniques such as FTIR GCMS ICMS TGA DSC etc. to materialbased issues.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT:

• Handson operation of FTIR GCMS ICMS TGA and DSC to collect data on the composition of polymers contaminants in materials outgassing from adhesives/inks etc. to aid in Failure analysis investigations.
• Handson preparation of samples for all above mentioned techniques. Samples include polymers adhesives multilayered composites small particulate debris contamination discoloration etc.
• Utilization of Microscopy techniques such as optical microscopy to characterize sample structures and morphology.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Chemistry Engineering Polymer Science Materials Science or related discipline.
• Must have experience using FTIR instruments. GCMS ICMS TGA and DSC experience will be a plus.
• Experience in sample preparation for above mentioned techniques.
• Knowledge of safe work practices in a lab environment and experience working around solvents adhesives polymers etc.
• Ability and aptitude to work with and manipulate small objects while viewing under a microscope.
• Highly effective communication skills including ability to seek out direction ask clarifying questions communicate findings and accept feedback
