Come join the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) as a Scientific Writer.

Do you have an interest in writing and sourcing information about medicines and possess a sharp eye for detail

If so we have an opportunity for a diligent enthusiastic and detailoriented Scientific Writer to join our Content Team.

Working within the Drugs and Diseases Team the Scientific Writer will contribute to the creation of content for the BNF and Martindale: the complete drug reference. You will be responsible for triaging sources maintaining databases researching content organising workflows and updating specific areas of content which are tightly defined by procedures. Training will be provided but you will need to demonstrate some key skills in your application.

Requirements

  • Higher education qualification in a subject relevant to the clinical use of drugs or equivalent practical experience in a healthcare or regulatory setting. Pharmacy technician experience would be a strong advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and to organise own workload.
  • Evidence of writing or editorial experience desirable.
  • An understanding of drugs medicines and medical terminology.

The Directorate

In the Publishing Directorate were the world leaders in evidencebased pharmaceutical publications and guidance. Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals trust us to provide expert analysis educational support webinars and news that informs supports and enhances their practice. We independently source evaluate and communicate and make practical medicines knowledge accessible worldwide. In the Publishing Directorate the following teams work collaboratively to provide our worldclass products: the Journals team; the Sales and Marketing team; the Technology team; the Product team and the Editorial team (in which this role sits).

The Team

The Drugs and Diseases team focuses on producing content for the BNF and Martindale. As a team with a diverse workload we rely on good communication and work in a flexible collaborative way to get the job done.

How we are currently working

RPS supports and works in a hybrid way which means you will be able to work from home however there will be an expectation for collaborative facetoface working on average and typically this may be something between 48 working days per month at our London Office.
