The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

This Performance Work Statement (PWS) is for the Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) aboard the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command (MAGTFTC)/Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) Twentynine Palms CA.

1. Purpose. The purpose of this PWS is to describe the tasks and desired deliverables for the CRE for the Religious Ministries Directorate (RMD) at the MAGTFTC/MCAGCC Twentynine Palms CA.

2. Duration of Services. The period of performance will be for up to five years.

3. MMI serves as liaison with the government and the contracting office.

4. General Requirements:

a. CRE Responsibilities. The Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) shall assist the Assistant Chief of Staff Religious Ministries Directorate (AC/S RMD) in the coordination of all Catholic programs religious education events and activities in accordance with the guidance set forth by the Navy Chaplain Corps and the Archdiocese of the Military Services (AMS) (). to Catholic Masses and managing the schedules of the priest to conduct Mass in the absence of an assigned Priest. This position shall entail evening weekend and holiday work.

b. Substitutions and Subcontracting. The Coordinator (CRE) shall provide and compensate a preapproved substitute when unable to perform services required as depicted in this PWS (i.e. illness doctor appointments family emergencies vacation). Such approval is at the sole discretion of the command chaplain via the COR and failure to approve substitute employees is not an excuse for nonperformance by the CRE. Subcoordinators may be utilized to aid in providing the requirements of this PWS. Any substitute must meet the qualification and experience requirements of the PWS.

c. Vacation. The CRE shall provide notification for vacation. The notification must be submitted to the COR two (2) weeks in advance.

5. Specific Requirements. The CRE shall assist the AC/S RMD in the following specific requirements:

a. Liturgical Ministries. The CRE shall assist the AC/S RMD by training coordinating and scheduling volunteer Lectors Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EME) Lay Presiders Musicians Altar Servers and Ushers for Sunday and holy day services. A list of all trained persons trained to include Liturgical ministers will be maintained and submitted in the Monthly Liturgical Ministries Report.

b. Celebration of Mass Support. The CRE shall assist the AC/S RMD by creating and implementing a master calendar for each liturgical year in order to schedule and coordinate all worship services Catholic devotionals and /or special presentations. The CRE shall prepare the weekly Catholic Sunday bulletin and the announcements to be made from the pulpit. The CRE will be the Catholic subaccount representative for the Religious Offering Fund and shall maintain records and prepare cover letters weekly for Catholic Religious Offering Fund donations made to charitable organizations. The CRE shall coordinate with the Art and Environment ministers to prepare the chapel for all seasonal events and ensuring fresh flowers are ordered for the altar every Sunday. The fresh flowers are to be funded by the Religious Offering Fund in accordance with SECNAVINST 7010.6A. The CRE shall coordinate and participate in the monthly Chapel Advisory Committee by preparing monthly reports to the committee on current activities. A copy of the monthly Chapel Advisory Committee report shall be submitted to the AC/S RMD.

c. Catholic Religious Education Programs. The CRE shall assist the AC/S RMD by coordinating and training volunteer teachers and teachers aides for the following Confraternity of Christian Docreine (CCD) Classes: Prekindergarten Kindergarten FirstSecond grades ThirdFourth grades FifthSixth grades Junior High Senior High and Adult. The CRE will only utilize Armed Forces Catholic Curriculum provided by the RMD. The CRE shall organize and conduct summer training and orientation classes for the new and returning CCD teachers and aides. These classes will cover lesson planning basic Roman Catholic Theology how to use texts and classroom discipline. The CRE shall plan schedule and conduct First Penance and First Communion classes in conjunction with regular classes along with parental education on practices that follow the reception of the Sacraments. The CRE shall coordinate and train volunteer teachers and aides for Confirmation Classes. The CRE shall plan schedule and conduct Roman Catholic Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Lenten Programs. The CRE shall plan schedule and conduct adult classes for the Sacraments of Baptism First Communion and Confirmation. The CRE shall coordinate a Vacation Bible School during the summer. The CRE shall prepare and submit a monthly report to the AC/S RMD listing all trained volunteer teachers and all classes taught during the month.

d. Catechetical Ministries. The CRE shall assist the AC/S RMD by conducting Marriage Preparation classes for couples seeking the Sacrament of Marriage and interviewing and providing instruction to parents who desire to have their infant Baptized. The Infant Baptism preparation classes will utilize the AMS approved curriculum and require a minimum of three hours of instruction for each family. The CRE shall coordinate and schedule all infant Baptisms and Marriages. The CRE shall prepare all the necessary forms and certificates for infant and adult Baptisms Confirmation First Communion and Marriage. The CRE shall submit quarterly reports to the AMS of all Catechetical ceremonies conducted including ceremonies for Marriage Baptism Confirmation First Communion and RCIA. A copy of the AMS Catechetical submission is to be maintained on file and another copy is to be delivered to the AC/S RMD.

e. Catholic Youth Programs. The CRE shall assist the AC/S RMD by coordinating an outreach and activities program for Roman Catholic teenagers whose parents are stationed at the MAGTFTC/MCAGCC. The CRE shall plan and organize up to four retreats per year for Youth and/or Adults enrolled in the Roman Catholic Religious Catechism and other preSacrament classes. The CRE will recommend retreat sites resource materials and resource leaders to the RMD. The CRE shall coordinate youth activities with the designated Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) moderator(s). The CRE shall coordinate with the CYO moderator(s) the planning and organizing of the annual Halloween and Christmas parties for the CCD children in the Chapel. The CRE shall prepare and submit a monthly report to the AC/S RMD listing all Youth Program activities for the month.

f. Prepare Planned Ministry Objective. The CRE shall prepare and submit as needed a planned ministry objective report for active ministry programs.

6. Coordinator Qualifications and Experience:

The CRE must maintain a current catechist certificate and shall have a minimum of two years of experience in facilitating coordinating and training volunteers for Catholic Liturgical Ministries Catechetical Ministries and Community Outreach Ministries. The CRE must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with a letter of recommendation from at least one Priest.

a. The CRE must have a minimum of six months experience as a Lector and at least two years of experience with Roman Catholic Religion tradition customs and sacramental structure.

b. The CRE shall be able to type 40wpm and capable of working with computer software programs to include but not limited to: Microsoft Word Office Excel and PowerPoint. The CRE must be able to communicate fluently in English with the ability to be easily understood by chapel staff volunteers and Chapel program members.
